KJM PREPARATION GUIDE

Getting Your Business Records Ready for Year-End

An organized starting point for bookkeeping, corporate tax and GST/HST discussions with KJM Accounting.

Choose a clear period

Write down the business name, year-end and period you want reviewed. Identify which returns have already been filed and which tasks are still outstanding. Do not assume that every filing uses the same period.

Bring records together

  • The current bookkeeping file or spreadsheet and available financial statements.
  • Bank and credit-card statements, sales invoices and expense records for the period.
  • Details of outstanding customer invoices, supplier bills, loans and major equipment purchases.
  • Previous filings and CRA correspondence relevant to the work you are requesting.

Flag items that need explanation

Separate transfers, owner contributions and personal transactions from ordinary business activity for discussion. Note unusual entries, missing receipts or balances that do not agree. Keep source documents available to support the records.

Agree on the work

Decide with KJM whether you need bookkeeping cleanup, financial reporting, T2 corporate tax filing, GST/HST returns or payroll/T4 support. Scope, fees and timing are agreed before the work begins.

Ready to talk?

A short description of the records and periods is enough for your first enquiry. Keep supporting financial documents out of the website form.
